GIANT PANDA INFO

*Giant panda pp 169-177

-In 1978 there wasa massive die-off of bamboo in panda habitat.
-Chinese governme sent scientists into the field to find out what was going on.
-Scientists began research in the Wolong Natural Reserve in the Qionglai Mountains.
-Between 1975 and 1989 half of the habitat of the giant panda in Sichuan Province was lost due to logging and agriculture, and the remaining forest was fragmented by roads and other developments.

·       Where Giant Pandas live:

·       Giant Pandas live in China.

·       Why are they endangered:

·       Because of how fast they breed. Female pandas only have 2-3 babies in there life time.

·       Because of a tsunami which wiped out somewhere around half of the population.

·       Because we are cutting down all of there bamboo so that means that there habitat will get smaller and smaller.

·       What can people do about this problem:

·       We can help them with there breeding, we can keep them safe from predators, storms, earthquakes and tsunamis, we can stop destroying there habitats.
